Step 2. Request a Meet & Greet- Include all details on the questionnaire
If you like what you’ve seen and feel we’re a great fit, please submit a Meet & Greet request for review OR use the Green 'Book A Meet & Greet' button to get started. During this meeting, we’ll cover your pet’s routines, feeding instructions, supply locations, home access details, booking steps, agreements, and emergency plans.
Step 3: Booking Approval
Please allow time for us to review your information. Approval depends on factors such as location and care requirements. If approved, we will meet at your home. If not, we’ll inform you promptly and may be able to help you find a pet sitter better suited to your needs. Allow at least 48 hours for booking approval. Your payment will be refunded if you are not approved.
Step 4: Schedule Services
Welcome to the pack! After a successful in-home Meet & Greet, you’ll receive approval to activate your Time to Pet account. Once your pet profiles are completed, you can book services through the Time to Pet client portal.

Q: Why should I book with The House Kat?A: The House Kat is a certified professional pet sitter with over 30 years of responsibly and dependably caring for pets, people, and homes. The House Kat will always be gentle and make your animals' safety a priority. Scheduling is done via Time to Pet, where all communication, Pet information, invoicing, and documents are all in one place. Visits are time and GPS tracked and each visit report card includes a message, pictures, video, and details of feeding, watering, walks, etc.

Q: What hours do you provide services?A: Booking is based upon availability and by appointment only. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. The office is closed on weekends and federal holidays. The House Kat's office line is (402) 522-6778 or email: kat@thehousekatpetsitting.com. During office hours, Kat will respond to calls and emails as soon as possible. If it is after office hours, please expect a delay in response time unless your pet is under current care by The House Kat.

Q: Are you licensed and insured?A: The House Kat Pet Sitting is bonded and insured with Business Insurers of the Carolinas. The House Kat Pet Sitting is an LLC company registered with the IRS and the State of Nebraska.

Q: What is enrichment?A: Directly from the ASPCA website: enrichment refers to activities that allow dogs to engage in their innate behaviors, such as playing, chasing, smelling, chewing and scavenging. By allowing your dog to engage in these behaviors, you allow them to be physically, emotionally, and mentally satisfied. Dogs who don’t receive stimulation tend to find ways to enrich themselves, resulting in unwanted behaviors.

Q: What to do if I need to cancel or change a booking?A: If you need to cancel or change a booking, please notify us via Time to Pet's Change Request feature as soon as possible. We understand that plans can change! Here's how you can handle it: For Cancellations: Let us know with proper notice to avoid any cancellation fees. For Changes: If you need to adjust the dates, times, or services, please submit a request with the updated details, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. For any cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of the scheduled service, a 100% cancellation fee may apply. Always feel free to reach out if you're unsure about anything! Q: How many visits do I need?A: For dogs with access to a doggy door, 2 visits per day is suggested. Those without access require at least 3. For those with special needs or puppies under 1 year, bed & breakfast or overnight stays along with 2 drop-in visits per day are suggested. Most cats and caged animals are fairly self sufficient but The House Kat requires one visit per day. This is to ensure the safety and security of both your pet(s) and your home.

Q: How soon in advance should I book services?A: For the best availability, we recommend booking services as soon as you know you'll need them. While we always do our best to accommodate last-minute requests, booking in advance helps ensure I can reserve the time slot that works best for you and your pet. If you're booking a special event or holiday period, we suggest booking even earlier, as those times tend to fill up quickly!

Q: I Have A Neighbor/Friend/Family/Etc Who Can Stay With My Pets At Night. Can You Just Do Daytime Care?A: We understand the convenience of having a neighbor, friend, or family member help with your pets at night. However, for insurance purposes and to ensure that your pet receives the highest level of care and attention, we prefer not to share care responsibilities. This way, we can guarantee that everything is covered if something unexpected were to happen. We're happy to discuss any other options that can work for you!

Q: How do you accept payment? Is a deposit required?A: Payment is due in full at the time of booking and invoicing is done through our booking system using Stripe to collect card payments. We also accept, Venmo, Cashapp, and cash. We adhere to a strict cancellation policy which you can read in full here: .

Q: Do you charge a holiday fee?A: Holiday bookings require a 100% deposit. If your visit or part of your visit is scheduled to occur on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas, there is an additional PER VISIT charge of $15 added to your invoice total to include overnights. An additional per visit charge of $10 will be added to services scheduled over Easter, July 4th, Labor Day, Memorial Day, New Years Eve, or New Years Day to include overnight stays. Visits canceled on Holidays are subject to a 50% cancellation charge if canceled 15 or more days before first date of scheduled services and a 100% charge if canceled with 14 or less days from the first date of scheduled services. Full payment is required at time of booking for any Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday booking.

Q: Do you charge extra for multiple pets?A: No. Drop-in visit options start at 20 minutes in duration, however, if a visit goes beyond the scheduled duration for care, additional charges will apply. Same with overnights (9p-6a).

Q: Do you board pets?A: No, The House Kat does not provide boarding services at this time.

Q: What kind of animals do you care for?A: As long as The House Kat has written instructions and the owner feels comfortable after the meet & greet, Kat will take care of any critter from geckos to horses to include animals of all sizes and breeds! Dogs, cats, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, birds, horses, donkeys, alpacas, cattle, pigs, lizards, turtles, fish, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and more!

Q: What if my pet has behavioral issues or special needs?A: Provided the animal does not need constant care, and written instructions are given, Kat will take on any beloved pet and administer medications or medical treatments as instructed. Kat is a former CNA and is certified in pet CPR/first-aid. This includes shy/timid/fearful/reactive animals who need a little extra love and patience.

Q: How do I sign up for a membership?A: Signing up for a membership is easy! Simply book a meet & greet with us and discuss which membership tier suits your needs, and we'll get you set up. Once you have an account on our booking platform, we can help you set it up your membership. Once you're enrolled, you'll start enjoying the benefits right away, and your subscription will renew automatically each month for your convenience!
